We are lovers of classic architecture and historic neighborhoods. We are a team of creatives, artisans, perfectionists, and process geeks. We are passionate about what we do.
Meet our team
Travis worked on his first carpentry crew before he could drive. He went to Dartmouth College where he was a member of the Varsity lightweight crew and was active in the Outdoor Club. He received an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia where he was a Shermet Scholar, A Genovese Fellow, and The Vice President of the Raven Honor Society. From 5:45 to 6:45 in the morning, he is an instructor with SEALTeam PT, his one outlet other than work and family. He lives in Richmond with his wife, Kate, three daughters, five hens, and a female retriever. He is comfortable being outnumbered.
Phil has been building and restoring classic homes in Richmond since 1973. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the College of William and Mary. He is an avid baseball fan, a part-time disciple of Bikram yoga, and an active grandfather to his seven grandchildren.
Caleb is a free spirited lover of bluegrass and all things natural. When he is not running fine millwork and trim, Caleb can be found playing in some of Richmond’s and Williamsburg’s music hot spots. Caleb jumped in his truck and took off for South Carolina to see totality with the last eclipse… and still made it back to work the next day. “I would do it again tomorrow,” he says with a wink and a smile.
Alberto brings a can-do approach to everything he tackles. From reworking doors in some of Richmond’s oldest homes to tackling the dust containment, demolition, and restructure of a master bath remodel, Alberto combines highest quality with a smile and a lot of hustle.
Karin has always been interested in home renovations but she does not consider herself a “handy” girl. She enjoys working for the Gardner Construction office team because it let’s her be a part of the organization and administrative process from start to finish without getting her hands dirty. "It’s awesome to see a historic home come to life again and the happiness of the owners when the projects are completed." During her time away from work she enjoys all types of outdoor activities including soccer, Crossfit, hikes, runs, and anything in or on the water. Dream vacation: Surf Camp
Amy grew up watching and helping her dad and grandfather work on small construction projects. She built her career working with architects, designers, and builders all over Virginia, from Newport News, to Charlottesville, and Harrisonburg, settling in Richmond. Amy has a BFA in Interior Design from James Madison University and an MFA in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has a love for teaching, and Adjuncts at VCU when her schedule allows. Amy is passionate about Universal design and sustainable design, earning her Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design accredited professional designation and receiving her Certified Aging in Place Specialist certification. Amy's experience has ranged from estate homes to senior living facilities, corporate offices, private clubs, mixed-use, multi-family, and historic adaptation. When Amy is not working, she enjoys fishing, boating, backpacking, hiking, white water rafting, and spending time with her family, identical twin sister Emily, her husband Brett, and her dogs Max and Josie.
